We've broken down the things you need to know about the budget

City staff just released their 2024 Budget. Between now and the final vote, things will undoubtedly change, and I hope to keep updated on those. For now, I’ve broken out what I think are some interesting trends and data points.

Fee increases not a solution
The much-touted fee increases earlier this year on things like parking and licensing don’t amount to much in the grand scheme of the budget. For example, license fee increases account for $15.14 million in new revenue, a 15 percent increase. But that’s only seven percent of the budget’s total increases.
