Review: The egg sandwich of your dreams at Cha Kee

Velvety smooth, rich and unforgettable, at a price that will ruin every other brunch spot

High on my list of spots was Cha Kee. Situated in the back left side, tucked away from the stampede of people, the Hong Kong breakfast spot has built itself a bit of a following online — judging by a few TikTok users — with their Hong Kong-style egg sandwiches.

I’m something of an egg fanatic. I’m the grocery shopper who beelines to the 24 egg pallets and finishes them in a week by myself, much to my partner's horror (she hides it well, but I can tell). My scrambled eggs are something I painstakingly make each morning. I’ve watched videos on techniques to ensure maximum smoothness. They’re creamy, soft and buttery and I’m proud of them.

Well, I was until I ate at Cha Kee.
