A different type of donut at Mello

The light, brioche donuts help this donut shop stand out compared to other places in Vancouver

I admit it, I have a sweet tooth.

At one point, every time I travelled to a new city, I made sure to try a local donut. I had this grand idea that they varied greatly by city.

Fast forward to today, and you might say I’ve gotten off the donut train. I still loved baked goods, but I don’t seek out donuts out as much anymore. One reason? Many tend to be heavier, almost like a meal. Cake donuts especially.

This isn’t to cast doubt on places like Cartems, which happens to have an outstanding cake donut. Or Lucky’s, whose sour cream donut is a siren call whenever I walked by their shop.
